John Denver's house wasn't Energy Efficient

By:  Nathan Wilson

In "Goodbye Again" by John Denver, John Denver sings that "… There's frosting on the window pane, and sorrow in your eyes…".   I am sure his loved one is very sad that John is leaving her for a while but, she will also be sad when she gets the electric or gas bill because she is going to be paying a lot of money for heating their house only  to have it leaking out the window that John hasn't caulked around, put window tinting on(works well in the winter keeping the heat in, and in the summer keeping the heat out), rolled up a towel to help seal around the edges, or gotten rid of the problem altogether by upgrading to new Energy Star rated windows(which now are eligible for a tax credit) there wouldn't be moisture or frosting around the windows every morning and John might stay home more, warm and cozy.

Other things John could have done to lower his energy bills and anyone reading this still is able to do are:  make it a habit to turn off the power strip for your T.V. and computers every night($15-$30 savings per system monthly depending on size of T.V. and age of computer) before you go to bed,  read a newspaper or book,  if your not watching T.V.  turn it off(tune in a good radio station it uses a third less energy and is often more interesting),  carpool, there's more ways to save on electricity but, that's a good start.
